An EP featuring two compositions originally written for a documentary from Castiglione Falletto. The film portrays Luca Roagna and his father Alfredo, who together represent one of the world’s most respected winemaking families. They are known for their uncompromising approach to traditional winemaking, and their wines are considered among the finest in the world.

The two intimate compositions ‘Viti Vecchie’ and ‘Padre e Figlio’ explore the meeting between acoustic guitar, prepared piano, and the distinctive resonance of a wine glass filled with Roagna wine. Haaland creates a musical landscape that mirrors the delicate balance between tradition and innovation that characterizes the Roagna philosophy.

This is Gisle Haaland’s second release on gi faen records, and the compositions demonstrate his nuanced approach to arrangement and instrumentation. Through careful attention to detail and subtle sonic textures, he captures both the meditative nature of the aging process and the dynamic relationship between the land, the winemaker, and time itself. Each piece serves as a musical reflection of the Roagna estate’s commitment to preserving historical winemaking methods while embracing the natural evolution of their craft.
