Gisle Haaland is not only a renowned musician but also a beloved pizzaiolo, known for his legendary pizzas at Gi Faen Pizzeria (“Don’t give a fuck pizzeria”). At this unique restaurant, Haaland channels his creativity into the art of pizza-making, earning a reputation for his humble yet masterful approach to the craft.
Beyond his culinary talents, Haaland is a versatile pianist and composer. He is a key member of Elektro Ompaniet, an experimental group that blends jazz and electronic music. The band released Toskedalen in 2004 and Electromecanibalism in 2005, pushing the boundaries of these genres with their innovative sounds.
In addition, Haaland collaborates with singer Mari Klingen in the duo BLAA, where they fuse Norwegian folk and jazz influences. Among their releases are “Desembervise” and “Hav og fjell,” which often explore themes of nature and personal reflection.
Recently, Haaland expanded his creative reach by composing music for the podcast “Ei kunstfortelling” (“An Art Tale”). The music for the podcast has now been released and is available on all streaming platforms.
